I can’t contain my cries
bloodshot red are my eyes,
simultaneously saddened and high—
from newfound educational opportunities for my second-born.
The youngest of the Rawlins family tree
ready to grow strong like an oak,
while waiting for the bloom of spring
I am not prepared to say goodbye,
but it’s time to release those anxious wings and let her fly.
Thus, one remarkable chapter ends
and another epic journey in college begins!
Love Dad! – Poetic Thoughts
In retrospect, memorable moments like today are perfect for shedding tears as you move closer from your teen years to adulthood. It’s a subtle reminder that 18 years of parenthood has reached its climax as you shift your ambitions toward a brave new world of opportunities and experiences. It’s been an honor guiding you as a father, protector, advisor, coach, mentor, and teacher. You have made us proud by absorbing the knowledge, lessons, and skillsets and making them your own. As an athlete, academic, spiritual influencer, and loyal friend, you are simply one of a kind and a special individual.
I love you infinitely and wish you all the blessings God has in store. Keep rising Kaiyana Ayako Sumi Rawlins!
