Last year I took on far too many SELFLESS burdens fighting for causes and people -- especially within the diversity field -- that do not even fight for themselves. From business to family to friendships, I absorbed their draining energy, redundant problems, and countless conundrums, while making them my own without receiving reciprocity. Thus, weakening my austere spiritual foundation and strong mental fortitude.
Whelp, not this year where I will focus on “SELF” outside of a few key scenarios that are meaningful like my girls and lifelong friends. I have witnessed the selfish intentions of human nature and will no longer participate in that forum. The formula is simple people: speak up, fight for your rights, enhance your work ethic, and stop relying on saviors to sacrifice their relationships and reputation for your benefit.
And when someone does choose to do something uplifting for you, make sure to honor that with a thoughtful note, maybe a card, lunch, or something you know they personally enjoy. Take the "ish" out of "self" and replace it with "less".
Simplification is my newfangled mantra while fighting for my own causes. To the other nomadic minds like myself, keep elevating, keep exploring, and continue satisfying your soul. One Love!
